Burning Hammer Tape Review #14
CellJr300 On
WWE: Smackdown
December 26, 2002
--Taped from Tulsa, OK
--Your hosts are Tazz & Michael Cole
--Bill DeMott V. Crash. DeMott gets the pin at 2:12 with a Moonsault Press. DUD DeMott once again takes us to squash city.
--WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship, No Disqualification Match: Billy Kidman, Edge V. Los Guerreros. Chavo gets a Pendulum Backbreaker on Kidman, and holds him there so that Eddie can deliver a Slingshot Senton to the prone Kidman in a SWEET~ combo. Edge hits Eddie with a Spear real early on, but Chavo breaks up the count at 2, & Los Guerreros do what any self-respecting team would do, and take their titles and leave. The ref pulls out the classic "If Los Guerreros get counted out they not only lose the match, but they lose the titles/ bit, so Los Guerreros come back to begrudgingly continue the match. Kidman hits his SWEET~ Fireman's Carry Neckbreaker on Eddie, but Chavo breaks up the count at 1. Kidman hits the Shooting Star Press on Chavo, but Eddie pulls the ref out of the ring for the disqualification loss at 8:53 aired. The ref orders that the match must continue, only this time under no disqualification rules. Edge nails Chavo with the title belt, but Kidman is only able to get 2 off of it after Eddie breaks up the count. Kidman tries to make the hot tag to Edge, but an interfering A-Train pulls Edge off the apron, leaving Kidman at the mercy of Los Guerreros as Eddie hits the Frog Splash allowing Chavo to get the pin on Kidman at 12:06 aired with a Lateral Press. **** Really great, non-stop action, tag team wrestling. Los Guerreros played the role of the cheating heels willing to do anything to keep the belts perfectly, and Edge & Kidman gave a great performance as the babyface team doing everything in their power to thwart the cheating of Los Guerreros.
--They show previously unaired footage from last week's Smackdown of Brock Lesnar giving Kurt Angle an F-5 into the ringpost, which was the first time anyone ever took the F-5 into the ringpost that I'm aware of.
--The previous segment leads into Paul Heyman introducing Team Angle, Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin, who are quite possibly the greatest tag team in the world at the current time, and that alone makes this segment worth mentioning.
--B-2 (W/John Cena) V. Rikishi. Rikishi gets the pin at 2:22 with a Banzai Drop. DUD A squash match that wasn't really a squash match.
--Chris Benoit V. Big Show (W/Paul Heyman). Benoit gets a German Suplex on Show, although Show lands more on top of Benoit's body than on the mat. Benoit gets the pin at 6:52 with a Headlock Takedown with his feet on the ropes. *3/4 Decent wrestling, although due more to Benoit bumping all over the ring rather than anything Show did. Post-match Team Angle lay a beating on Benoit, including their SWANK~ Superkick/German Suplex combo, and their even SWANKER~ Powerbomb/Springboard Neckbreaker Drop combo.
--Final Flash: Decent Smackdown this week, and if you can, find the tag title match somewhere, because it's definitely a match worth seeing.

--Taped from Tulsa, OK
--Your hosts are Josh Mathews & Ernest Miller
--Brandon Groom V. Matt Hardy. Matt Facts- Matt Loves Eggnog, Hates Fruitcake/Matt Knows How To Solve A Rubik's Cube. Hardy gets the pin at 3:23 with a Diamond Cutter. 1/2* Squash match.
--Funaki V. A-Train. Train gets the pin at 4:05 with a Canadian Backbreaker. 1/2* An extended squash match.
--Gabe Roach, Vinny Valentino V. Jamie Noble, Nunzio (W/Nidia). Nunzio gets the pin on Roach at 5:11 after he and Noble hit a double team Fisherman's Buster. 3/4* An even more extended squash match.
--John Cena (W/B-2) V. Chuck Palumbo. Cena gets the pin at 5:07 with a Rollup after barely connecting on a Low Blow to Palumbo. 1/4* Cena was nowhere near good at this point, and this was nowhere near a good match.
--Final Flash: Squashes & bad wrestling galore this week on Velocity.

WWE: Heat
December 29, 2002
--Taped from Oklahoma City, OK
--Your hosts are Lita & Coach
--Vinny Valentino V. Maven. Valentino hits an Exploder Suplex for 2. Maven hits a sloppy Flapjack for 2. Maven gets the pin at 4:25 with a Missile Dropkick. 3/4* Started off good, but turned real sloppy near the end.
--Gabe Roach V. Johnny Stamboli. Stamboli gets the pin at 4:27 with a Double-Jump Legdrop. 1/2* Squash match.
--Steven Richards (W/Victoria) V. Jeff Hardy. Hardy screws up a Corkscrew Senton, nailing Richards in the nose with his foot, and busting him open. Richards gets the pin at 5:14 with a Butterfly Implant DDT. *1/2 Not bad, but not real good either.
--Raven V. Tommy Dreamer. Raven gets the pin at 5:43 with a Rollup after hitting a Low Blow on Dreamer. ** Decent match, which is just about the range for all of the matches that these two have had over the years.
--Final Flash: Another so-so edition of Heat, with nothing worthy of noting.
